निशाँ भी कोई न छोड़ा

Lyricist:
Singer: Ghulam Ali

I am not sure I have heard words राय and दिया correctly. Confirmations/Corrections?

बदगुमाँ = Jealous

  1. 1. ‘bad-gumaa.N’ means doubtful or suspicious, rather than jealous, I think.
    2. ‘raay’ (as in opinion) seems to be correct, as it fits the meaning of the line
    3. ‘shamaa.N’ in ‘bahaaro.n kaa vo shamaa.N’ should be ‘samaa.N’
No idea about ‘diyaa’…can it be ‘duaa’?

  2. If this is supposed to provide me the lyrics of this song, it’s not there.

If this is supposed to express the futility of this effort of mine, well the above should give an indication to contrary.

The ITRANS song book mostly has the Hindi Movie songs. Not many Ghazals outside the arena of movies can be found there.

  3. In your world… are things right and wrong…
A blog on ghazal lyrics is not that useful..(unless it is for your own self.. which i doubt)…
So ITRANS kind of an effort can be a better thing.. and one more thing…
It has been a mania in you.. to be a pioneer… sometimes it is better to be a part of team… and not be the ringleader.. and swish the whip.. this is not sarcasm… just an insight..
if you have to be a manager.. you have to learn to let others take initiative and follow some else’s lead…
    Ahh… it’s futile… who am I telling

  4. >In your world… are things right and wrong…

Is that a question or a comment? If a question, I should like to know the origin. If a comment, then you have the right to have your opinion.

    > A blog on ghazal lyrics is not that useful..(unless it is for your own self.. which i doubt)…

You shouldn’t doubt that. It is pretty much for my own self. If someone else benefits, good for me.

    >So ITRANS kind of an effort can be a better thing..

I have nothing against ITRANs and that’s pretty much one of my favourite sites. But I sincerely believe that Unicode should be promoted for Indian Languages and hence am writing in Unicode instead of using their or anybody else’s software.. I do think people will shift to Unicode sooner or later and then all this could be transferred to any database anyone wishes.

    >It has been a mania in you.. to be a pioneer…

Thank you! I had started doubting myself of possessing any such qualities.

    >sometimes it is better to be a part of team… and not be the ringleader.. and swish the whip.. this is not sarcasm… just an insight..

Really? Look at yout language. The evidence will be to the contrary.

    >if you have to be a manager.. you have to learn to let others take initiative and follow some else’s lead…

Thanks – but a advice that came too late… I thought management was about taking initiative. But, of course, one year at IIML (amongst all these preachings of “if you have to be a manager”), and two months at internship – and I know you are right! Follow any blockhead’s lead (and I do not mean ITRANs here for God’s sake – I respect them for their effort), if you want to be a manager.

    > Ahh… it’s futile… who am I telling

Right! Why do you waste your time?

If you do, at least have the courage identify yourself.

And refrain from any irrelevant conversation on this blog from now own. I hope your curiosities have been satisfied to a large extent now.

  5. An academician in a “real” world tired of mediocrity…. well mediocrity is a fact… more than 99% people exist for sole purpose of exiting… probably you are lucky to have found the idle time to delve into music and ghazals…

Anywayz… so go to Harvard… get a PhD and remain an academician… that is what you ought to be…

  6. hi this seems to be a very good gesture for ghazal fans ….good work ….
It seems (although i m not 100% sure) it can be ‘Raaz’ instead of ‘Raay’ as ‘Raajda’ means ‘confidant’
